Our commitment to child safety
Seedlings@Whitehorse Kindergarten is committed to the rights of the child and child safety.
We want children to feel safe and be safe at all times. We want children to be happy and empowered individuals. We foster opportunities for each child to participate, express their views and to learn and develop within a safe environment.
We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers. We promote the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. We promote the safety of children with a disability. We promote the (right to) safety of trans and gender diverse children and their families in Early Childhood Education and Care settings. We ensure that LGBTIQ+ children and families feel included.
We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our policies and procedures. At Seedlings@Whitehorse Kindergarten, we will always act in the best interests of each child. We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously. We are committed to preventing child abuse, identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks.
We are committed to proactively share information with relevant authorities to promote the wellbeing and/or safety of a child or a group of children, consistent with their best interests.
